Chase Credit Card Fraud Part II

The Oregon State Attorney must have thought my letter had merit. They sent two letters as per today’s email. See below:

Letter #1:

Your File Number: FF12465-09
Complaint About: CHASE CARDMEMBER SERVICES

Thank you for bringing your consumer concerns to the attention of the Financial Fraud/Consumer Protection Section of the Oregon Department of Justice.  Often it is through letters, such as yours, that we are alerted to consumer problems that may affect many other citizens.

We have written to the business and we have requested a response regarding your complaint.  You may receive a response directly from the business. If you do, please review the reply carefully, and let us know if the answer does not address your concerns. We hope that our efforts will result in a satisfactory and prompt agreement between you and the business.  Please be patient in waiting to hear from us as some complaints require more time and investigation than others. We do attempt to give all valid complaints an appropriate review.

In the event that our office pursues an action on behalf of the public at large against the company, it sometimes takes many months to reach a resolution.  Therefore, we want to let you know that Oregon law prohibits our office from acting as your private attorney or from giving you legal advice.  Deadlines may prevent you from starting a private lawsuit if you wait too long.  Filing this complaint with our office does not change those deadlines, or guarantee the results you are seeking.  This means you may wish to talk to a private attorney now if you are considering private action.

Letter #2:

Our File Number: FF12501-09
Complaint About: CHASE BANK USA, NA

If you’ll notice, there are TWO different addressees: one to Chase Cardmember  Services and the other to Chase Bank USA.

I’ve sent off to the lady who handled this, whose name has been not included above, a request to see the actual letter sent. I had not included my account number in my letter to the OSA; however, I think they’ll be able to figure it out, with my full name and address.

At least I hope so.

Once I get the real letter in hand, I’ll be writing to Chase myself, to all the addresses on the back of the statement (have you ever read that? There are MANY addresses…)

So, folks, it looks like someone official thinks I have a problem too, not just you guys!

Question of the Day: Have YOU ditched YOUR Chase account/card yet?

One Response to “Chase Credit Card Fraud Part II”

  1. Jamie Says:

We were turned down for a Chase card last summer. I’ve never been so happy to be turned down for a credit card. Glad to see you are getting some traction on this.
